Real education should ignite the human spirit and be a "source of joy".
Each school is unique. Each one has a personality or character, a spirit that permeates throughout. From the moment you walk into the building you can feel it. Some schools radiate discipline and authority, others an overarching sense of tradition. The spirit that emanates from Henson Valley is, first and foremost, a community of joyful scholars. But, it is also a community of teachers and parents drawn together by a deep love for the child and a commitment to providing an environment that will spark a life-long love of learning. Faculty and staff spend countless hours preparing the classrooms, observing children, reviewing lessons, continuously seeking to awaken each child's full potential as a human being. Parents tirelessly volunteer their time in a variety of ways, listening to children read, giving special class presentations or helping to raise necessary funds.
This is what a school should be- a single- minded, dynamic organization focused on the child. Dr. Montessori felt that a real education should ignite the human spirit and be a "source of joy". She said it best so many years ago. It is the spirit of the child that can determine the course of human progress and lead it perhaps to even a higher form of civilization. Henson Valley is dedicated to protecting and nurturing this spirit. Please feel free to visit Henson Valley and see just how good a school can be.
