Philosophy

At Henson Valley Montessori School, our primary focus is to awaken a passion for excellence; to nurture the child's innate curiosity, creativity, and imagination and to inspire the human spirit.

Our educational program is built on the long-held Montessori method of learning. Because our under-girding philosophy is based on Montessori principals, we believe that intelligence is not rare among human beings. We believe that wisdom can be cultivated and that true wisdom is the application of knowledge. At Henson Valley, we seek to understand each child's uniqueness and learning capacity, guiding the student individually and at his or her own pace.

Our ultimate goal is to produce renaissance men and women who have not only learned how to learn but have also developed a wide range of interests and an openness to new ideas and possibilities. To achieve this goal, we, as teachers and educators, value self-esteem, human dignity and emotional well being, and the ability to communicate and cooperate effectively with others as highly as academic and material success.

Henson Valley Montessori is also an international school, reflected in the far-extending compass of our school logo. As part of a contemporary society that is integrating and expanding beyond traditionally established cultural borders, we prepare our students by exposing them to global perspectives. Our diverse community celebrates the understanding and acceptance of all people, appreciating the differences in culture, interests and learning styles. International education is a core part of our rigorous curriculum at every age level. Students study modern foreign languages and learn physical, cultural, and economic geography, correspondence and travel.

Henson Valley Montessori School is a close-knit community of students, educators, parents and friends dedicated to creating an exceptional and safe learning environment. We are constantly building a constructive partnership between families and the school to support each child's development. We believe a Montessori school is more than a place of learning; it is a community where children can confidently develop their character, assimilate sound values and relate peacefully and respectfully to other people and to the natural world.
