Admission
Thank you for considering Henson Valley as a prospective school for your child. As we continue to grow, we are looking for families who share our values and beliefs about what an education can be. Our goal in admissions is to find the perfect match among students, families and the school.
The admission process at Henson Valley is designed to be an easy, stress free process for both parent and child. We ask that you follow the guidelines below.
DEADLINE
All applications must be postmarked or received by June 1st to be considered for the following academic year.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
- Arrange to attend an Open House and/or Tour.
- Complete an application and submit it along with a non-refundable $100 application fee. You may submit it in person or mail your application to the school.
- If interested, parents may make an appointment to observe in a classroom. Observations are held Monday through Friday from 9:30AM to 10:15AM. No children are permitted during observations.
- If applicable, send the recommendation form (enclosed in the application packet) to your child’s current school and arrange to have it returned to HVMS as soon as possible. Recommendation forms must be received by HVMS before an admissions decision can be finalized.
- Request a visit date for your child. This is an opportunity for us to observe how your child learns in a classroom setting and interacts with peers.
- After the visit, a decision will be made and a letter of determination will be mailed to parents within approximately three weeks. If your child is accepted, a contract will be mailed along with the necessary information explaining the annual fee and all other enrollment policies.
- Upon receipt of the signed contract and appropriate fees, the child’s placement is reserved for the fall of the upcoming school year.
Open Houses are usually held on weekends (please check our calendar for the next Open House date.) This is an informative yet casual session to get to know the HVMS community, including other parents, and ask questions.
Tours are held every Tuesday morning between October to June from 9:30AM – 10.30AM when school is in session. No appointments are necessary. This is an opportunity for individuals to meet with the Head of School and/or Admissions staff and to learn about Henson Valley’s students, staff and community.
Children applying for placement in the Primary program should visit for two consecutive half days.
Children applying for placement in Lower Elementary, Upper Elementary or Middle School should visit for two consecutive full days.
Applications are processed as received. If there is a waiting list, you will be notified of the status of your application and contacted when an opening becomes available.
