What Makes HVMS Unique?
We begin with a deep respect for the child as a unique individual. We work from a concern for their social and emotional development because there is far more to an education than mastering facts.
OUR CURRICULUM:
- Is consciously designed to recognize and address different learning styles, helping students learn to study most effectively.
- Is carefully structured and integrated to demonstrate the connections among different subject areas. Each class teaches critical thinking, composition and research.
- Is designed so that we not only teach but facilitate learning, coaching our students and coming alongside them as friends and mentors.
- Instills within our students a love for the natural world. Ecological studies and outdoor education are an essential part of each student’s life at Henson Valley.
- Is international in scope. Our curriculum, faculty and student body reflect a global perspective.
OUR STUDENTS:
- Learn through hands-on experience, investigation and research. They become actively engaged in their studies.
- Develop self-discipline and an internal sense of purpose and motivation. After graduation, they find that these values really pay off in college and later life.
- Are not afraid of making mistakes; they see them as natural steps in the learning process.
- Learn to collaborate and work together in learning and on major projects. They strive for their personal best rather than compete against one another for the highest grade in their class.
