The Elementary Program

The Montessori curriculum is organized as an inclined spiral plane of integrated studies.

Elementary Education

This is very different from the traditional model in which the curriculum is compartmentalized into separate subjects, with given topics considered only once at a given grade level. The elementary program uses the primary as its foundation, building upon the curriculum by revisiting the lessons in more detail and expanding on them. The goal for all of this is to help students discover their individual academic and emotional potential as well as their role within their social group and the global community.

The elementary child has entered a plane of development where they are naturally predisposed to investigate, create, and explore new ideas. Current research has demonstrated that children have a clearer understanding of what they are learning when they are given the responsibility of examining and assisting in their own education. Based on this fact, the elementary program encourages students to conduct their own research, analyze what they have found and come to their own conclusions. In this way, the child can take ownership of their own learning and a sense of personal accomplishment is established. These children will develop into life-long learners.

Our expectations as a college preparatory school are quite high; challenging each student to his or her fullest individual potential and establishing a clear standard of achievement and quality of thought and work. Our curriculum has no outer limits except for mankind’s knowledge and imagination.
